Oregon’s Willamette Valley is the home of the United States hazelnut industry. Growers produce around 29,000 acres of hazelnuts. In the mid-1980s, eastern filbert blight (EFB), the fungal disease Anisogramma anomala, was discovered in the northeast corner of the hazelnut producing region. Since that time, the industry has been battling to manage the effects of the disease.
